Saskatoon Transit Should Be Funded By Province More

I’ve seen the Green Party of Saskatchewan talking about this issue, but no one else other than Planet S seems to have mentioned the obvious when you look at the numbers. The Province of Saskatchewan, despite being over 50% urban now, like never before in its past, has not started thinking like an urban province.

  1. Planet S is a bit misleading. The province doesn’t fund transit at all. Not $1. The amount that the City line items as “provincial funding” for regular transit is really just what social services pays transit for bus passes for people receiving social services. I would not consider that “provincial funding”. It just pass revenue, part of which comes from the individual, part from social services.
