John Klein Running in Ward 1 for 2012 Civic Election
Today IT professional, community activist and blogger John Klein is announcing that he is running for city council in Ward 1, in the 2012 civic election. The Ward will be electing a new Councillor, as incumbent Louis Browne has announced he is not running for re-election. John is the first candidate to declare for Ward 1.
John has lived in Ward 1 beginning in 1998. He’s a graduate of the University of Regina with a Computer Science co-op degree in 2003, and presently works at the UofR in IT Support. He’s served on various boards and unions including the Community Net Advisory Committee for high speed Internet in schools and libraries, the UofR Student’s Union, and CUPE locals. He’s the active President of the Regina Car Share Co-operative, a growing Saskatchewan co-op designed to provide additional sustainable transportation service to Regina. Since 2008 he’s gardened at the South Zone Community Garden, and volunteers with its operation. He also serves on his condo’s Board of Directors.
“I’m excited to be seeking election from the residents of Ward 1. It’s the first time I’ve stood for public office, and am ready to meet a lot of excellent people,” said John. “In early discussions with residents, I’ve heard that infrastructure concerns are pressing, and I have plans to address them.”
